About Mooncat
Where we began.
Mooncat began as a natural evolution out of Player Two PR, founded by Charlene Lebrun in 2016. While offering PR and marketing support to a range of indie clients over the years, Player Two PR had built a small but very dedicated team of marketers (and friends!) around the world.
Then 2019 happened. And well, the industry changed a lot. So we had a new mission: how can we still offer support to cool indie games, but in a world with funding disappearing day by day? Mooncat Games was born as a way to offer a non-traditional approach to marketing and publishing support. With additional services and profit-sharing agreements, we were able to help excellent teams make lovely games. Before we knew it, we had signed three gorgeous indie titles as a publisher, and Mooncat Games was pattering onto the scene.
A few years later, at the end of 2024, we were ready for a new journey: bringing the two brands together. Same team, new emails, but now with the excuse to pepper cats into every one of our proposals (we know you’re happy about that too). What does this mean? Mooncat Games is the same team of chatty, cat-meme wielding game-lovers - just with a fresh new brand and a reconfirmed priority to be your friendly companion on your journey to launch.
Fun Fact! Mooncat is named after Charlene’s cat Apollo, who is no longer with us. Our favorite furry friend was adopted on the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.
Who we are today.
Mooncat Games was formed with the goal of being … well, better. We aspire to be your friendly, helpful, and pawsitive companion in an industry that can feel overwhelming at the best of times. Looking for a one-off PR and influencer beat for your Kickstarter? Need help devising a marketing plan for a grant proposal? Not even sure where to start with marketing? Not to worry, we are ready to work paw-in-paw with you to see your goals through to the end.
We are proud to offer a broad range of custom services, no matter what you’re looking for. From localization to storefront management to business development and platform partnerships, the most important thing to us is to treat every developer team and their game as a unique project.
We’ve worked in games for well, a while now, and we’ve created a team that reflects the ever changing dynamics of this industry. Whether it’s capitalizing on social media trends like short-form vertical, building close relationships with the much sought after micro influencers, or just being a friendly face to be your go-to when you need to run through some marketing ideas, we’re here to help. Just don’t mind us if we ask for photos of your pets in our first call… it’s for research, we promise…
What it’s like working with us.
Long-story short, our consultations might feel a little more… casual, than you might expect. We aren’t keeping a timer, we’re not reading through a list of deliverables - that first meeting is about getting to know you and your game, not a transaction or a sales meeting. We want to chat about your struggles, that crazy idea that you think is probably not possible but would be so cool if it was - whatever your dreams and issues, if we both feel there’s a fit, we’ll find a way to get you to where you need and build a plan that’s perfect for you and your budget.
When you work with us at Mooncat Games you can expect an approach that is individual and personalised to you and your team, because we know that every game and every project is different and you need someone who will take the time to understand your game inside and out.
No copy and paste, no corporate jargon - we don’t do stuffy boardroom, suits, and stern faces. We genuinely care and pour our hearts into every single project we take on, and many of clients have been with us for years, from their first game to new releases along their journey.
Overall, we want to do games marketing differently. Because sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know. So if that sounds like something you could vibe with, don’t be afraid to reach out. We’re looking forward to hearing about your game, whether we end up working together or not!
